Wayzata Bay Center Faces Immediate Full Demolition, Posing Challenges for Muni’s Relocation

In an unexpected development that may catch City of Wayzata leadership off guard, reports indicate that the Wayzata Bay Center is now set for complete demolition, deviating from the initially planned phased approach.

This abrupt change in plans puts the City of Wayzata in a position of urgency as it scrambles to find a new location for the Wayzata Bar & Grill and Wayzata Wine & Spirits.

The City owned restaurant is presently housed in a freestanding building within the Wayzata Bay Center.

Concerns arise over the potential displacement of the Muni, considering the initial plans had outlined a phased demolition strategy for the Bay Center site.

There are speculations about potential relocation sites for the Muni, with one suggestion being the swamp located to the east of Lake Street.

Despite inquiries, Wayzata City Council members have not provided immediate responses, leaving questions surrounding the evolving situation unanswered.

The pressing need to address the Muni’s relocation adds an extra layer of complexity to the unfolding scenario involving the Wayzata Bay Center.
