John Millea of the Star Tribune has released the most recent Metro Top 10 Poll. The Wayzata Football Trojans are ranked #2, up 1 spot from their ranking last week. Cretin-Derham Hall slid one spot due to an injury to senior running back Marcus Binns. He reportedly suffered a knee injury in the season opener against Forest Lake and has had surgery since then. Minnetonka slid to #4 after the loss to Wayzata. I am still not convinced that Minnetonka is that good as their offense was completely ineffective, running draw plays on 3rd and long.
metro top 10 by John Millea of the Star Tribune(with record) 1. Eden Prairie (2-0) 2. Wayzata (2-0) 3. Cretin-Derham Hall (2-0) 4. Minnetonka (1-1) 5. Apple Valley (2-0) 6. Mahtomedi (2-0) 7. Eastview (1-1) 8. Totino-Grace (2-0) 9. Hopkins (2-0) 10. Woodbury (2-0)
I’m not sure why the Star Tribune doesn’t capitalize Metro Top 10. Seems like they are trying to be hip and trendy when it just annoys me. Stay tuned to Wayzata.com, you Capitalized Metro Top 10 Poll Leader.
This appears to be a Democratic Blog pointed to candidates websites for no other reason than to build page rank. That being said, these pictures were taken in Wayzata, so therefore I will make you aware of them as Wayzata.com is an equal opportunity Wayzata promoter.
Minnetonkascene‘s Minnetonka Felix has posted on his website tonight that he will be releasing his Daschund Race Pictures from the 34th Annual James J. Hill Days in Wayzata. As soon as I see them up I wll let you know.
When Elisha and I walked over to the Wayzata West Middle School to check it out, people were lined up 3 and 4 deep to get a view of the happenings. Had I known Felix was going to be there, Elisha and I would have attempted to say “Hi”. So Felix, if you are listening, drop us a note at wayzata@gmail.com.
That being said, I also saw a piece on Fox 9 this morning by MA Roscoe as she covered the races and cracked wiener jokes. ie, that’s a huge wiener, etc. I would have posted a link to that here as well but there was no hint of it on Fox 9’s website. Closed circuit to Fox 9, start posting your stories on your site, and make it easy to search the stories personality.
Wayzata.com is your Minnetonka Felix picture notification leader.
Rather than try to rehash a football game that has been covered by every media outlet in town including the website you are reading, I figured what would be better is to point you in the direction of the various reports.
Here is the official page from the Wayzata Football program:
Jon Weisbrod, of the Lakeshore Weekly News, has a new writeup of the Wayzata Football win over Minnetonka. The article is entitled “Doe, defense carry Wayzata past Minnetonka.” Weisbrod called the Minnetonka team “mammoth.”
Nick Clark of the Sun Sailor has an article that contains the exact same quote about “playing in their underwear” from Coach Anderson that the Weekly News has… Makes me wonder whether both he and Jon Weisbrod of the Lakeshore Weekly News stood next to each other to “interview Coach Anderson” or watched a clip online somewhere….
So Elisha and I were well aware what was going on when we took a seat at Sunset’s against the windows facing Lake Street at about 11:40 last Friday, It was about 20 minutes prior to when reports from Marketwatch.com indicated that the United Steel Workers would march on the headquarters of Wayzata Investment Partners. The couple in the booth behind us wondered out loud what was going on with the heavy police patrol on Lake Street. Our waitress indicated that the Wayzata Police Department had called Sunset’s and indicated that their might be a large distraction.
So Elisha ordered a California Burger (a little dry) and I had half a sandwich and a cup of soup while the USW Local 1189 marched and chanted outside seeking a meeting with President Patrick Halloran. All kinds or rumors swirled around; anarchists from the RNC in St. Paul would be descending on Wayzata, a huge protest, etc. They stuck around for about an hour, then dispursed as they chanted, “We’ll be back.”
For even more information about the exact happenings, check out this Union sponsored website which breaks down the actions of our local Lt. Mike Murhpy who hand delivered a letter to the Wayzata Investment Partners corporate attorney. The union reportedly was denied access to the building.

The Three Rivers Park District has the following information on their website about the Dakota Regional Trail:
“The Dakota Rail Regional Trail is a 13.5-mile regional multi-use trail that will extend from Wayzata to St. Bonifacius following the old railroad line. The trail is closed until it is fully completed in fall 2008. Individuals using closed trails may be subject to citation. This is a non-motorized, non-horse trail.
8/15/08 Update – The public’s patience is appreciated during construction of the Dakota Rail Regional Trail. As of Friday, August 15, pedestrian and bicycle use is permitted on the portion of the trail between St. Bonifacius and County Road 19 in the Navarre portion of Orono. Users are reminded to exercise caution and to be respectful of contractors working in the corridor. Other portions of the trail remain closed at this time.
As construction progresses, please check back for updates regarding permitted use on other sections. The Dakota Rail Regional Trail follows the route of the former Dakota railroad corridor, going through St. Bonifacius, Minnetrista, Mound, Spring Park, Minnetonka Beach, Orono and Wayzata. Completion is expected later this year. Motorized vehicles and horses are not permitted on the trail.”
Here is that crazy merge right on the border of Wayzata and Minnetonka as you exit 494 from either direction. When will this never ending construction be done? The City of Wayzata’s web site indicates: “It is anticipated that all work will be done and ramps reopened on September 19, 2008.” Seems like I read all road construction on Highway 12 would be complete by September 1st, so I begs the question, what gives.
At least it isn’t down to one lane in either direction like it was for an extended period of time. I haven’t been any further west than Wayzata, so maybe someone could give us an update on what is happening out there.
