As the 19th century gave way to the 20th, Wayzata evolved from a resort destination into a thriving year-round community. Wealthy Twin Cities corporate executives built grand estates along the lakeshore, while established businesses like Minnetonka Boat Works, the Wayzata Theater, Minnetonka Hospital, Hart’s Cafe, and Meyer Bros. Dairy became household names. The once-bustling summer cottages were joined by permanent residences, signaling a shift in the town’s character and economy.
Holst, an expert in local history, will paint a vivid picture of this transformation, offering insight into the key businesses, landmarks, and figures that shaped Wayzata and the surrounding North Shore during this pivotal era.
