The countdown is on for the Wayzata Chilly Open, one of Minnesota’s most unique winter traditions and events, and there’s still time to secure your spot! Scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2025, on Wayzata Bay, this frosty celebration promises fun, food, and friendly competition for golfers and spectators alike.
Since its inception in 1984, the Chilly Open has become a signature event for the community, attracting over 2,200 participants annually. Golfers will tee off on four nine-hole courses carved into the frozen lake, using tennis balls and creative clubs—hockey sticks, baseball bats, or even traditional golf clubs.
This year’s theme, Born in ’84!, invites participants to embrace the nostalgia of the 1980s. From Walkmans to neon outfits, creativity is encouraged on and off the ice.
Tickets and Tee Times
Golfers can choose from three tee times: 10 a.m., 12 p.m., or 2 p.m. Tickets are available in two categories:
- Amateur ($60): Includes nine holes of golf, a Chilly Open hat, access to the 19th Hole Hospitality Tent for all-you-can-eat chili and live music, and eligibility for prizes.
- Pro ($115): Adds an exclusive hat, a breakfast buffet at 6Smith, VIP check-in, and guaranteed choice of tee time.
This is a pre-ticketed event, and tickets are selling fast. Each golfer needs a ticket, so gather your team and reserve your spot before it’s too late.
More Than Just Golf
The Chilly Open isn’t just for golfers. Attendees can enjoy a range of activities, including the “Chilly Open Pre Par-Tee,” Snowga (yoga in the snow), and Snowkiting. Plus, the 19th Hole Tent will host a chili cook-off featuring over ten local restaurants.
BYOB is allowed on the ice, but participants are reminded to drink responsibly and adhere to city regulations.
