Get ready to usher in the holiday spirit as Wayzata’s cherished Light Up the Lake event returns on Friday, November 29, 2024. From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Lake Street will transform into a magical winter wonderland filled with festive cheer, family fun, and the glow of holiday lights.

This year’s event offers an enchanting mix of activities, sure to delight residents and visitors alike. Families can enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, capture memories with reindeer at Depot Park, sip on hot cider and treats, and pen letters to Santa at Panoway. Strolling carolers will fill the air with music as you stroll through the heart of Wayzata, and free glow light wands will add a special sparkle to the evening.
The celebration’s schedule promises fun for all ages:
- 5:00 p.m. – A Candy Hunt for children ages 5 and under at Depot Park.
- 5:15 p.m. – The dazzling Parade of Lights featuring local fire departments along Lake Street.
- 5:45 p.m. – The grand Town Lighting Ceremony at Panoway, marking the official start of Wayzata’s holiday season.
In the spirit of giving, the event will host two special drives:
- IOCP Food Drive: Bring a non-perishable food item to support families in need.
- Toys for Tots Drive: Drop off a toy under the tree at Depot Park or Panoway to make a child’s holiday brighter to support the Wayzata Police Department‘s annual drive

The evening will also feature the much-anticipated Winter Medallion Hunt, which runs from November 18–22. Children ages 12 and under are invited to follow daily clues posted on Wayzata.org, WayzataChamber.com, and social media. The first family to locate the medallion earns the honor of lighting up Wayzata during the Town Lighting Ceremony.

Make sure to bundle up, grab your family and friends, and head to Lake Street for an unforgettable start to the holiday season. Whether you’re sipping cider, enjoying wagon rides, or singing along with the carolers, this magical evening will surely warm your heart.
Let’s Light Up the Lake together! See you there.
