To the editor of Wayzata.com:
I have filed for the Office of Mayor for Wayzata.
I believe that we need leaders who are focused on delivering results and are willing to put partisanship aside for the good of the City of Wayzata, County, and State. As a proud 28-year resident of Wayzata and local business owner, I am increasingly concerned about the trajectory of our local government, our community and the broader Lake Minnetonka area.
I felt compelled to run after hearing from many fellow citizens who share my belief that our community needs to embark on a new, more constructive course. With a career in both business and our local government, I believe I’m the candidate best suited to bring community-oriented solutions to our greatest challenges.
This isn’t about admiring problems; this is about having a record and experience to solve them.
Before running for Mayor of Wayzata , I served for eight years as a Wayzata City Council Member (2009–2016). During that time, I worked with all stakeholders to move forward critical infrastructure projects, invest in public safety (police & fire) and significantly enhance our public parks in a fiscally responsible way.
I think we need some of this problem solving back in Wayzata and I’m ready to go back to serve the Citizens of Wayzata and get things done. Our growth has created challenges.
We need leadership in our city who can roll up the sleeves and bring real solutions to these challenges. As a community service leader I have made it a priority to help people. My wife, Kristyn is a healthcare executive , and our family has always valued service above all.
Since I announced my candidacy in late April I have met with hundreds of citizens and stakeholders and the majority of folks want the City of Wayzata to get back to providing basics of essential city services and responsible spending. Over the past 5 years (2021 — present) the city has increased general fund spending by $1.9 million to $7.0 million in 2025 up from $5.1 million in 2020 that is average increase of 7% per year. As a local business owner, I know how important it is to manage a budget. If I’m elected, I will focus on….
- Addressing increased congestion and traffic challenges from significant commercial development.
- Implement a long-term plan to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. This includes enhancing our independent police and fire departments.
- Prioritize fiscal responsibility by investing in essential services like law enforcement and firefighting. Instead of wasting resources on unnecessary administrative positions and consultants, we should focus on meeting the needs of our residents and enhancing their quality of life.
- Engage our citizens and LISTEN. I’m committed to being a visible and accessible mayor, engaging with residents and businesses directly to address their concerns and feedback. We need leadership that listens and responds directly to the needs of the community. No one person has all the answers and our PEOPLE know best. We need to make our local government less opaque and give people a voice again. So many of our problems stem from a top-down approach, instead of at the citizen level. As your Mayor, that culture change will be our top priority.
