For Wayzata area motorists eagerly anticipating the much-awaited unveiling of the new Highway 12 bypass, the wait is nearly over.
The new highway alignment is slated to open just in time for Thanksgiving.
However, ongoing work is still in store on the east side of the project at Wayzata Boulevard and on the west side at Hennepin County Road 6.
Additionally, the completion of the Luce Line bridge remains a crucial element yet to be achieved.
While retaining walls are now finished, the fieldstone on these walls is scheduled for a fresh coat of paint in the coming spring.
Concrete paving operations are already underway, and the commencement of bituminous paving is expected early next week.
Grading efforts will persist as part of the project’s ongoing agenda.
All bridges have been decked, and overlays have been successfully executed.
Nevertheless, some bridges necessitate further attention, involving tasks such as the installation of barriers, sidewalks, painting, railing, and bridge deck planing.
