Monday, October 14: Girls Tennis and Adapted Soccer Take the Stage
The week kicks off with Adapted Soccer, where Wayzata’s squad will travel to take on White Bear Lake Area in what promises to be a spirited matchup. This game is part of a season that’s been filled with energy and determination for the team. Later, the spotlight shifts to Girls Tennis, as the section individual tournament begins at Inner City Tennis. Wayzata’s top tennis players will look to advance through the competition in hopes of representing their school at the state level.
Tuesday, October 15: Section Soccer and Volleyball Showdowns
Tuesday brings one of the most exciting days of the week, with both the Boys and Girls Soccer teams competing in section games on their home turf. The boys take on Hopkins, while the girls face Rogers—both matchups will be held at Wayzata High School. With a spot in the section finals on the line, the teams will rely on their home crowd for support in these critical matchups. The Trojans have put together strong campaigns this season, and both teams are aiming to keep their playoff hopes alive with victories.
Also on Tuesday, Wayzata’s Girls Volleyball team hosts Minnetonka in what’s sure to be a fierce rivalry game. The volleyball team has been building momentum all season, and a win against Minnetonka would boost their standing as they prepare for sections. Meanwhile, the Girls Tennis Section Individuals Tournament continues, with top players competing to move forward in their brackets.
Wednesday, October 16: Trojans Football Head to Anoka
Midweek, Wayzata Football heads to Anoka for an away game as they look to secure a key win in the final stretch of the season. With the playoffs on the horizon, each game becomes more important for the Trojans. A victory against Anoka would be a strong step toward improving their playoff positioning. Expect a hard-fought game as Wayzata aims to maintain their focus and finish the regular season strong.
Thursday, October 17 & Friday, October 18: Soccer Section Finals Loom
If the Trojans’ soccer teams are victorious in Tuesday’s section games, both the Boys and Girls Soccer teams will be competing in the Section Finals later in the week. Dates and opponents are still to be determined, but the anticipation is already building. Both teams have shown tremendous talent and teamwork throughout the season, and making it to the section finals would bring them one step closer to a state tournament appearance.
Saturday, October 19: Swimming Stars Take the Stage
The week concludes with the Girls Swim and Dive team competing in the State True Team Meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Known for producing some of the fastest swimmers in the state, Wayzata’s swim team has its sights set on strong finishes in individual and relay events. The True Team format emphasizes overall team depth, so every swimmer’s performance will count as they look to bring home top honors.

Tenley Senden scored her team-high 16th goal of the season for the only goal of the first half but then scored four goals in the second half. Our boys hit the road to Hopkins for what should be a nail-biting soccer match. This is a great chance for the Trojans to make a big statement as the season heads into its later stages. - Girls Soccer at Hopkins
Right after the boys, the girls team takes on Hopkins as well. Expect a fast-paced and competitive match from these talented athletes. - Girls Swim and Dive hosts Edina
If you prefer your sports poolside, head over to Lifetime in Plymouth, where the Girls Swim and Dive team will host Edina. The atmosphere will be electric as these strong swimmers look to make waves against their biggest rivals. - Girls Volleyball at Hopkins
Rounding out Tuesday, our Girls Volleyball team (12-7-0) is away at Hopkins (5-8-0) for what should be a great matchup, and dropping a touch match at Maple Grove. Let’s send them all the good vibes for a win!

- Boys and Girls Cross Country at St. Michael-Albertville
It’s a big day for both the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams as they lace up their running shoes and take on St. Michael-Albertville. Expect some strong performances as our Trojans push through the fall weather and strive for top times!
Friday, October 4th
- Wayzata Football at Prior Lake
Friday Night Lights, anyone? The Wayzata Football team (2-3) travels to Prior Lake (1-4) for what promises to be an intense game. The Trojans beat a very very good Eden Prairie Eagles team last Friday night, you can read about the game and watch highlights here. - Girls Volleyball at St. Michael-Albertville
Our Girls Volleyball team is back in action on Friday, this time facing St. Michael-Albertville. Two matches in a week can be tough, but this group is resilient, and we’re all rooting for them!
Saturday, October 5th
- Boys Soccer at Cretin-Derham Hall
The Boys Soccer team wraps up the week with an away game at Cretin-Derham Hall. It’s always a competitive fixture when these teams meet, so don’t miss out on what promises to be an exciting match! - Girls Volleyball at St. Michael-Albertville

Submitted photo. Wayzata High School Girls Soccer is hosting Youth Day tomorrow, September 14, at 1 p.m., when they take on Providence Academy. The event, held at Wayzata’s home field, promises an afternoon full of fun activities for young soccer fans, including halftime games on the field and autographed posters to take home.
Wayzata, currently 7-2, is coming off a 4-2 victory over St. Michael-Albertville last night. Providence Academy, 6-2 this season, is also riding high after a dominant 5-0 win against St. Paul Academy.
Youth fans who wear their soccer jerseys will receive free admission. Players will also be available after the game to sign posters. Families, friends, and neighbors are encouraged to join the festivities and support the Trojans!

From CCX, “The Wayzata girls’ soccer team saw its hopes for a state championship dashed with a 3-2 loss to Mounds View in the Class 3A quarterfinals. The match was tied 2-2 through regulation and overtime. The Mustangs then beat the Trojans 2-1 in penalty kicks to advance to next week’s semifinals. Mounds View’s Yasmeen Abed was credited with the first goal of the match on a deflected shot giving the Mustangs a 1-0 halftime lead. Wayzata countered in the second half with goals from Amya Conway and Lily Nayer, whose goal put the Trojans ahead 2-1 with under 11 minutes to play in regulation. But the Mustangs tied the match on Emily Johnson’s free kick in the final four minutes of the second half. Tied 1-1 on the sixth penalty kick of the shootout, Mounds View’s Amelia Gregory scored to give Mounds View the win. Wayzata, top-ranked in Class 3A, finishes the season with a 17-1-1 record while Mounds View advances to next week’s semifinals.“

From CCX, “The Wayzata girls’ soccer team scored four first half goals on the way to a 7-1 win over Hopkins in the Section 6AAA championship. The win gives the Trojans their 29th section title in program history. Wayzata (17-0-1) is ranked first in the state in Class 3A. Grace Estby scored twice with five other Trojans contributing goals in the win—the third for Wayzata over Hopkins this season. Avery Petty scored the lone goal for Hopkins. The Royals finish with a record of 8-8-3.”

From CCX, “Meghan Sullivan scored two first half goals to help lead the Wayzata girls’ soccer team to a 3-0 win over Minneapolis Washburn in the semifinal round of the Section 6AAA tournament. Grace Estby scored the final goal of the match in the second half. Wayzata (16-0-1) will attempt to qualify for the state tournament when they host Hopkins (8-7-3) in the section final Tuesday at 5:00 pm at Wayzata High School. The Trojans beat the Royals twice during the regular season.”
