WAYZATA — A group of residents gathered Thursday afternoon at the corner of Highway 101 and Central Avenue, just beside Heritage Park, to raise signs, share messages of peace, and engage passing traffic in conversation. The grassroots protest, which drew 16 participants this week, is part of a growing weekly demonstration that organizers say will continue every Thursday from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Many of the protesters are members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Minnetonka (UUCM), while others came as friends, neighbors, or curious community members. A few residents from Folkestone senior living community also joined in.

According to organizers, the movement is informal but steady. “We even had two people who saw us while driving by, then turned around, parked, and joined us,” organizer Christy Dachelet stated. “That kind of spontaneous support is really encouraging.”

Participants held signs and waved to drivers, some of whom honked in support as they passed through the busy intersection.
The group welcomes anyone who shares a passion for peaceful civic engagement to join them. As one organizer put it, “All are welcome to join us,” whether you’re part of a local organization or just want to stand for something meaningful.
