The City of Wayzata is inviting residents to apply for a vacant seat on the City Council following the resignation of Councilmember Jeff Parkhill, who will step down September 23, 2025, as his family relocates out of state. The appointed councilmember will serve the remainder of Parkhill’s term, concluding December 31, 2026.
Applications are due by Monday, September 8, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. The Council anticipates making the appointment in October.
Councilmembers help shape the future of Wayzata by setting policies and priorities on matters ranging from public safety and development to sustainability and city services. The role requires a commitment of time, collaboration with fellow councilmembers and staff, and a focus on serving the community. Prior government experience is not required.
