WAYZATA – In a remarkable show of civic continuity, five of Wayzata’s seven living mayors gathered this week for a special lunch and filming session at the Muni, hosted by current Mayor Andrew Mullin. Together, they represent nearly six decades of leadership in the lakeside city.

“What an incredible gathering!” Mullin wrote in a Facebook post celebrating the event. “I had 5 out of 7 living mayors of the City of Wayzata around one table yesterday, representing a whopping 57 years of public service to our amazing city!”

The occasion was more than a photo op. The group came together to record an episode of “Mayor About Town,” Mullin’s ongoing video series highlighting civic topics and community leaders. The episode, slated for release in August, will air on YouTube, WayzataTV, Comcast, and Mediacom.

The mayors in attendance included:

  • Wayne Fadden, elected in 1968 and the only person to serve as both City Manager and Mayor, who led the city through three terms until 1974.
  • Barry Petit, elected in 1996 and known for his work on revitalizing Lake Street, who served two terms through 2004.
  • Andrew Humphrey, elected in 2004, who served until 2008 and is part of Wayzata’s only father-son mayoral legacy, following his father Bill Humphrey.
  • Ken Willcox, elected in 2008 and a three-term mayor who served through 2020, widely respected for his measured leadership during Panoway’s formative years.
  • Andrew Mullin, who took office in 2024.

Former mayors Bob Gisvold and Johanna Mouton, though not in attendance, were recognized as part of Wayzata’s living legacy of leadership.

The setting was light-hearted but meaningful, underscoring the shared commitment of these public servants. “It was an honor to spend time with these great leaders,” Mullin added.

With so many eras of Wayzata leadership represented in one room, the upcoming broadcast promises not only civic reflection but a rare glimpse into the evolution of city priorities, traditions, and personality over half a century.

Stay tuned in August for what may be the most multi-generational “Mayor About Town” episode yet.
