WAYZATA — The Wayzata West Metro Chamber of Commerce has named Kurt Klapprich as the 2025 Parade Grand Marshal for James J. Hill Days, honoring his retirement after an extraordinary 40-year career with the Wayzata Public Works Department.
Known for his unwavering work ethic, behind-the-scenes dedication, and ever-present smile, Klapprich has been a cornerstone of Wayzata’s day-to-day operations and community celebrations for four decades. Whether preparing the streets for a snowstorm, supporting local festivals, or lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need, Kurt has quietly and consistently embodied the spirit of service.
“We are thrilled to announce our 2025 Parade Grand Marshal for James J. Hill Days: Kurt Klapprich,” the Chamber said in a social media post.
Throughout his career, Klapprich became known not only as a reliable force within city operations but also as a trusted friend to residents, business owners, and colleagues. His deep knowledge of the city’s infrastructure was matched only by his passion for the people who live and work in it.
Set for Saturday of James J. Hill Days, the parade is one of Wayzata’s most beloved traditions — and this year, with Kurt front and center, it will carry even more meaning.
Klapprich’s selection as Grand Marshal offers the community a chance to say thank you, not just for a job well done, but for a life of humble leadership, quiet heroism, and deep-rooted care.
Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to line Lake Street, cheer loudly, and help send off one of Wayzata’s finest in true hometown fashion.
