The proposed Walser Lamborghini dealership in Wayzata is moving forward, with a formal neighborhood meeting set for Monday, June 2 at 5:00 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall. Property owners Andrew and Paul Walser have submitted a Planned Unit Development (PUD) Concept Plan for the site at 1022 and 1042 Wayzata Boulevard East, which outlines an ambitious vision for a boutique luxury dealership.
According to a May 22 letter from Brannin Gries of Gries Architectural Group, the approximately 15,690-square-foot building will include an upper-level showroom, high-end customer lounges, private offices, and service bays, along with underground and surface parking tailored to the dealership’s exclusive clientele.
In a previous interview, Paul Walser described the vision in clear terms:
“This will be a boutique dealership with a whole different methodology,” he said on April 11, 2024. “…think about the difference between Wal-Mart & Chanel.” Walser also emphasized sensitivity to the surrounding neighborhood, noting, “We are not going to build something that is going to irritate the neighbors.”
As part of the PUD process, the development is seeking several variances and design deviations, including adjustments to parking setbacks, stall dimensions, and landscaping buffer standards. These changes are aimed at preserving existing driveway access and providing flexibility in layout while still maintaining a modern, refined streetscape along Wayzata Boulevard.
Key upcoming dates in the approval process include:
- June 9 – Planning Commission Public Hearing
- June 16 – Planning Commission Report & Recommendation
- July 1 – City Council Review & Action
Residents with questions or comments are encouraged to attend the June 2 neighborhood meeting or contact project representatives, including Katie Cohen (Walser), Brannin Gries (Architect), or Alex Sharpe (City of Wayzata).
