
Your Wayzata Trojans emerged victorious in a nail-biting 30-28 win over the Anoka Tornadoes on Wednesday, October 16th, in a thrilling road matchup. Wayzata found themselves down 14-7 at halftime but came roaring back in the third quarter with an offensive explosion.
Running back Caden Wong sparked the comeback with a two-yard touchdown run, followed by a dynamic 30-yard score from Kyle Boutwell. Wong also added a critical two-point conversion to give Wayzata the lead.
Quarterback Matt Berkland was instrumental in the second half, connecting on two touchdown passes, including a pass completion for a 75-yard touchdown play to Sam Booh that stunned the Tornadoes’ defense. He later found Tony Ley for a seven-yard touchdown pass completion, giving Wayzata a crucial 30-22 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Anoka wasn’t done, though. Quarterback Peyton Podany struck back with a 65-yard touchdown pass to Trey Borchers, pulling the Tornadoes within two points. However, their two-point conversion attempt failed, and Wayzata’s defense held strong for the final minutes to secure the win.
