The day kicks off with the Boo Bash Dash races, where participants can choose from a 10K, 5K, or the Lake Street Mile—an event known for its competitive spirit and a $250 cash prize awarded to the top male and female finishers. For families, there’s the Family Fun Run, a relaxed, one-mile jaunt down scenic Lake Street, perfect for runners of all ages and abilities.

Racers are encouraged to show up in costume for a festive start to the Halloween weekend. After crossing the finish line, runners can indulge in breakfast treats from local favorites Benedict’s and Red Cow, available on the Great Lawn. And for those racing with a bib, Red Cow is offering a free beer—perfect for toasting your accomplishment after the race.

The festivities don’t stop at the finish line. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Halloween fun continues with Boo Blast. Trick-or-treating will be in full swing at local businesses throughout town, with extra spooky surprises waiting at Lunds & Byerlys. Families can join in the fun by building pumpkin racers for the Pumpkin Derby, competing in the pie-eating contest, or showing off their Halloween costumes for a chance to win big in the costume contest.

Boo Bash Dash, back for a 6th year.  There will be certified races including 10K, 5K and the Lake Street Mile, plus a Family Fun Run,” states Wayzata Chamber President Becky Pierson.  “There will also be costume contests, pie eating contests and the Pumpkin Derby!  If you know someone wicked fast let them know the competitive Lake Street Mile will award $500 to the fastest male and female runners!

Whether you’re racing, trick-or-treating, or simply enjoying the festive atmosphere, Boo Bash Dash and Boo Blast promise a fun-filled day for the whole family. Be sure to mark your calendars and register for the races at boobashdash.com. It’s shaping up to be a Halloween to remember in Wayzata!
