The Wayzata community will gather on Thursday, October 10, 2024, to honor one of its most dedicated and influential leaders, Gina Holman, as the 2024 Wayzata Chamber Person of the Year. The luncheon will be held from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Wayzata Country Club located at 200 Wayzata Blvd. W., recognizing Holman for her exceptional contributions to both the local business community and the city’s growth.
Holman is best known as a founding partner of J. Carver Distillery, established in 2013, which has become a well-respected name in Minnesota’s craft distilling industry. Under her leadership, J. Carver Distillery has not only created award-winning spirits but has also contributed to the local economy, drawing visitors to the region and showcasing Minnesota’s rich heritage in craftsmanship.
Her roots in Wayzata, however, go much deeper. From 1994 to 2013, Holman served as the Director of Liquor Operations for the City of Wayzata, overseeing the management of beloved local establishments such as Wayzata Bar & Grill and Wayzata Wine and Spirits. During her nearly two decades in this role, Holman demonstrated remarkable leadership, modernizing operations as the store moved from the Wayzata Bay Center into it’s new location and fostering a sense of community pride. Her passion for the industry and dedication to customer service laid the foundation for her later success in the distilling world.
Holman also boasts an impressive background in wine and spirits education. She completed a rigorous program through the International Sommelier Guild, earning her credentials as a sommelier from 2010 to 2013. This expertise has complemented her work at J. Carver Distillery, where her refined palate and knowledge of beverages have been key to creating products that resonate with both locals and connoisseurs alike.
A proud alumna of St. Cloud State University, Holman graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications in 1993. During her time at the university, she was actively involved in student leadership, participating in the University Program Board. Her studies and extracurricular involvement helped shape the effective communicator and leader that she is today.
The Wayzata Chamber of Commerce’s decision to honor Holman as this year’s Chamber Person of the Year reflects the deep respect and admiration that the local business community holds for her. Her longstanding commitment to Wayzata and her success in both municipal and entrepreneurial roles make her a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.

If someone deserves Person of the Year, it is most certainly her.“
