Wayzata High School’s first home varsity football game of the season has been delayed by one hour due to anticipated storms in the area, school officials announced Thursday.

The Trojans were originally scheduled to kick off against Lakeville South High School at 7 p.m., but the game will now begin at 8 p.m. as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of student-athletes, coaches, and spectators.

“We apologize for the late notice,” said Meghan Potter, Director of Athletics and Activities for Wayzata Public Schools. “By delaying the start of the game, we are hoping to minimize any disruptions and to keep our community safe.”

The Wayzata community is eagerly anticipating the start of the 2024-25 school year, and Potter expressed enthusiasm for tonight’s game despite the delay.

“We hope to see you cheering on the Trojans tonight,” Potter added.
