Cathy Iverson, a long-term resident and dedicated public servant of Wayzata, has been recognized for her significant contributions to the community.
Iverson’s commitment to the city spanned over a decade, during which she played a pivotal role in local governance and advocacy.
From 2012 to 2020, Iverson served on the Wayzata Planning Commission, where she spent many years as Chair.

Her leadership on the commission was marked by her deep understanding of urban planning and her commitment to shaping the city’s growth thoughtfully.
In 2021, Iverson took her service to the next level by joining the Wayzata City Council, where she served until 2024.
During her tenure on the council, Iverson led the Section Foreman House redesign committee, a project that reflected her passion for preserving the city’s historical landmarks while adapting them for modern use.
Iverson was also known for her strong advocacy for neighborhood issues. She actively participated in neighborhood meetings, championing the concerns of residents and working to ensure their voices were heard in city decisions.
Her efforts extended to environmental initiatives, where she supported the preservation of the city’s tree canopy, and to social issues, where she advocated for affordable housing.
Additionally, Iverson was a staunch supporter of Wayzata’s city staff, recognizing their essential role in the community’s well-being and efficiency.

“Thank you. It wasn’t always easy, was it? That’s what good government is. We are not supposed to all agree, and through that better discussions and decisions were made,” stated Iverson in the public hearing recognizing her.
