In a heartfelt letter addressed to Mayor and Council Members, Cathy Iverson has announced her resignation from the Wayzata City Council, effective August 6, 2024, due to her impending move and change of residency.
Iverson, who has been a dedicated member of the Council for the past three and a half years, also served on the Wayzata Planning Commission for nine years prior to her council tenure.
Reflecting on her extensive service, Iverson expressed her deep gratitude and honor in working alongside her fellow council members and the city staff.
“I never expected that my service to the City of Wayzata would span that many years,” Iverson stated. “I will miss all the great and highly talented city staff and, of course, my Tuesday calls with Jeff. I will miss teasing him and sharing my passion for many issues in Wayzata.”
Iverson’s departure marks the end of an era for the City Council, as she highlighted the unique perspectives each member brings to the table. “I will miss my fellow Council members that I have had the privilege to serve with. Each one of you brings a different perspective to the tough decisions that we as a Council have had to make while always remaining professional.”
Looking ahead, Iverson is excited about the next chapter in her life with her family and establishing roots in a new community.
She leaves behind a legacy of dedication and service, urging her colleagues to continue prioritizing the best interests of Wayzata and its residents.
“Please always think of what’s best for Wayzata and the residents that make this their home. It truly is an amazing little town,” Iverson concluded.
Cathy Iverson’s departure will undoubtedly be felt by the Wayzata community, but her contributions and commitment to the city will be remembered for years to come.
