Wayzata Girls Golf Team Triumphs at Lake Conference Tournament

The Wayzata High School girls golf team emerged victorious at the Lake Conference Championship this week, showcasing exceptional talent and teamwork.

The Trojans clinched the top spot with a total score of 292 strokes, outpacing their nearest rivals by a significant margin.

Leading the team was senior Saachi Deshmukh, who delivered a stellar performance, finishing first individually with a score of 70.

Sophomore Lauren Chams also impressed, tying for first place with a matching score of 70.

Senior Kiersten Lawrance contributed with a solid 74, securing the fifth position. Rounding out the top performers were junior Jenna Britz and eighth-grader Reese Barry, both finishing tied for tenth with scores of 78.

Senior Anna Nowinski completed the team’s effort with an 89, placing 22nd.

Wayzata’s total of 292 strokes was well ahead of Minnetonka, who finished second with 297 strokes.

Edina took third place with a total of 325 strokes, followed by Eden Prairie at 334, St. Michael-Albertville at 342, Buffalo at 383, and Hopkins at 422.

The Trojans’ dominant performance at the Lake Conference Championship underscores their status as one of the premier teams in the region.
