The Wayzata Farmers Market has announced its permanent closure after much deliberation, citing a message of gratitude to its patrons and vendors.

In a statement emailed Sunday, the Wayzata Farmers Market team expressed appreciation for the community’s support over the years and urged continued backing for small businesses and local markets.
“We want to thank you for supporting the market and our vendors over the past years. We ask that you please continue to support small businesses and local markets in any way you can!” stated Debra Hoen, the Market Manager.
The market had been hosted in the Promenade off Main Street in downtown Wayzata every Thursday from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM from June through September.
In a telephone interview, Hoen was very grateful to the Promenade management companies old and new, who she characterized as very supportive of the effort.
Hoen also noted that the best location the Market had during its 8-year tenure, after moving from Excelsior, was in the parking lot in front of CoV restaurant, which has now been converted into the Panoway on Wayzata Bay.
The closure marks the end of an era for the market, which has served as a hub for fresh produce, artisanal goods, and community engagement in Wayzata for a number of years.
