Plymouth City Council Approves Eagle Brook Church Campus

After initially rejecting the proposal, the Plymouth City Council has given the green light to a 64,000-square-foot Eagle Brook Church campus on one of the last remaining undeveloped plots in northwest Plymouth.

The approval came with a 4-2 vote.

Following the rejection of its proposal in December, the church had indicated that it would pursue legal action if the plan wasn’t approved.

Mayor Jeff Wosje emphasized that the approved plan adheres to all zoning and land-use guidelines, stating, “By state statute, we can’t vote against that. We just can’t,” as reported by CCX Media.

It is noteworthy that Eagle Brook had pursued multiple sites in the west metro, facing opposition in Minnetonka and Corcoran before finalizing the selection of the Plymouth site, located two miles north of Wayzata High School.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the City of Wayzata experienced similar a legal setback in a comparable situation when the Unitarian Universalist Church sought approval for its relocation to a residential neighborhood in Wayzata under the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act.
