Wayzata Girls Basketball 54, Eden Prairie 52

Your Wayzata girls basketball squad (14-2) outlasted a pesky Eden Prairie (12-6) team in a Lake Conference match-up at the Wayzata Field House on Tuesday evening.

The Eagles were shorter than the Trojans, and used a 2-3 defensive zone to compensate. Eden Prairie led 31-30 at halftime.

Wayzata held a thin margin throughout the second half and were able to outlast Eden Prairie by a final score of 54-52.

The Trojans had success moving the ball from wing to elbow to block in order to defeat the Eagle defensive scheme. Unselfish passing and shooting also helped Wayzata get past EP.

Senior Brynn Senden had 13 points for Wayzata, Sophie Hawkinson had 12, Abby Krzewinski scored 12, Shannon Fornshell scored 11, Jessica Oberlander had 4 , and Kate Amelotte had 2 points.

Eden Prairie’s Tori Schlegel had 22 points including 4 three pointers, Molly Lenz had 12, Ella Hardwick had 7, Annika Anderson had 6, and Anna Jaeger had 3.

The Trojans travel to Minnetonka (12-4) Friday evening to take on the Skippers.
