City Manager Al Orsen and Wayzata Police Chief Mike Risvold administered the swearing in of new police officer Dustin Edberg at the City Council meeting on May 3, 2011. a2a_linkname=”Wayzata.com”;a2a_linkurl=”http://www.wayzata.com”;
Edberg is a native of Brooklyn Park, and is now a Maple Grove resident. He began working in retail loss prevention after high school for Target, with his most recent work transpiring with Bloomingdale’s. Edberg became a Wayzata reserve officer in 2006, graduated with a Associate Degree from Hennepin Tech in 2007, and has been volunteering one day a week as a reserve performing Community Service Officer duties.
Chief Risvold talked about the importance of makeing the right hire during the cremony, “As Police Chief, this is a decision you don’t want to get wrong. It’s a career decision for the City of Wayzata. We would expect and hope that Dustin would have a long career with this department until he chooses to retire. We go into a decision like this with that in mind.”
Edberg thanked the Council, his family and his friends after the swearing in, “It means a lot to me, I can’t wait to get started. I am very happy to be here.”
Edberg will continue to be in training with the Wayzata Police Department until the first part of August.
