IOCP breaks online giving record for Sleep Out

On November 16, as part of Give to the Max Day, IOCP raised a total of $325,471 online for its annual housing campaign, the Sleep Out. This number represents a one-day online giving record for the organization. (Last year, IOCP received $48,000 in online donations during the 2009 Give to the Max Day.)

There were 478 donors who gave a total of $175,471. IOCP’s own $150,000 matching pool nearly doubled that amount. An additional $25,154 in cash donations to the Sleep Out were made on that day.

“We are thrilled at this community’s response to the one-day effort,” said Jill Kohler, IOCP development co-director.

In addition, IOCP finished third in the state for amount donated to an organization as part of this year’s Give to the Max Day, behind Second Harvest Heartland and St. Olaf College. More than 3,000 organizations participated in the one-day effort.

Donations made to the Sleep Out on Nov. 16 will help prevent 163 families from losing their housing in the coming year.
