Your Wayzata Trojans traveled to Osseo Friday night to take on the Blaine Bengals in the Class 5AAAAA Quarterfinal match-up. Aaron ‘Turtle’ Roth scored 4 touchdowns on the evening, and the Wayzata defense kept Blaine guessing all night as the Bengal’s couldn’t get anything going.
Wayzata’s pursuit of a State Championship has brought no real competition since leaving the Lake Conference regular season. Champlin Park was easy, Osseo was easy, and Blaine in the end was as well.
The first indicator of the how the game would unfold came as Blaine’s Eric Kline was tackled on 4th down on the Bengal 18 yard line. Wayzata took full advantage as Mitch Underhill carried to his left gaining 8 and 6 on back to back plays. Aaron Roth capped the scoring opportunity with a 3 yard dash after a great push from his offensive line. The Trojans took the lead and never looked back as Wayzata rattled off 4 additional touchdowns.

Roth scored two rushing touchdowns and caught two receiving touchdowns on the evening. Zach Muller caught a 16 yard pass from Sasha Doran for the other score of the evening.
Defensively, Zach Muller recorded 2 sacks; Ryan Poppitz, Kit Snyder and Collin Lindquist each recorded 1 sack each. Sean Hamlin and Sam Gustafson each snagged an interception. The Trojans defensive unit held Blaine to almost no offense–an impressive display. Blaine had logged 3,800 yards of offense in ten games prior. Blaine only crossed the 50 yard two times.
Wayzata will take on Moundsview in the Class 5AAAAA Semi-finals; the game is scheduled for 8:15 pm on November 20 at the Metrodome.
