‘Tis the season for distinctive holiday shopping and delightful family activities, with the Wayzata Indoor Winter Farmers’ Market at the Wayzata Bay Center Saturday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“This time of year is perfect for this unique indoor farmers’ market,” according to Anne Davidson, owner of the Wayzata Bay Center shop anne & friends. “Now that the outdoor markets have ended, we have an influx of vendors and an even wider selection of high-quality items.”
The October market drew a crowd of more than 1,000 people, but the Nov. 20 event promises to be even better, featuring nearly twice the number of vendors. In addition, the Wayzata Indoor Winter Farmers’ Market kicks off the Wayzata Bay Center’s Santa Claus visits, which will take place each Saturday until Christmas. “We will have a professional photographer with the ability to print pictures on-site of children with Santa,” Davidson said.
Another exciting attraction is the book signing at anne & friends. Emmy-winning reporter and host of HGTV’s Decorating Cents Joan Steffend will be present from 1 to 2 p.m. to sign her book, “…and she sparkled.”
“We will be having a complementary wine tasting from noon to 2 p.m.,” market manager Julie Butler Faulkner added. “Wayzata Wine and Spirits will introduce wines to enhance your holiday seasons.”
Vintage photos of the Wayzata Bay Center will be on display, and the Wayzata Historical Society will be selling calendars and a gift book about Wayzata.
Charitable giving is also part of the market, through a Waytonka Club Christmas sale. The non-profit women’s organization raises money for local people in need. “At our market this year, we will have our famous spruce-tip pots, jewelry, embroidered tea towels, cards, granola, mittens, home accessories, baked goods, crafts, and décor,” according to Waytonka Club President Sarah Colpitts. “We will also have coffee and goodies to sample.”
On November 27, pets can pose for a photo , and pet owners can explore the “pet marketplace” featuring Secondhand Hounds, Augusta Dog Training, Pet Yard Pickup, and My Black & White Bakery. Dogs in need of foster homes and adoption will be available, as well.
The Wayzata Bay Center, conveniently located at the intersection of Lake Street and Superior Boulevard in the heart of downtown Wayzata, has become a hub of artistic talents, featuring an eclectic assortment of handcrafted, recycled/upcycled, and fine art galleries.
