On October 22, the Siemens Foundation announced the Semifinalists and Regional Finalists of the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology. The nation’s leading original research competition, Siemens is administered annually by the College Board, and awards college scholarships in individual and team categories. 1,372 projects were received this year. Two Wayzata High School seniors were among the 11 Minnesota students named as semi-finalists; Bo (Julia) Sun and Lawrence Wang.
Bo’s project is to determine factors that can be applied to enhance the capability of the human heart to regenerate. Lawrence is exploring the role of bile acids in improving kidney transplantation. Both Bo and Lawrence were enrolled in the Honors Mentor Connection program during junior year and are now continuing on in SciMent for senior year.
