Wayzata Community Sailing Center today announced plans to host a general public open house 4 p.m. Friday, June 5. The open house is intended to provide the greater community with an opportunity to experience firsthand the facilities and activities of this community center. On hand will be a number of certified instructors demonstrating some of the 54 sailboats used by the facility for youth and adult sailing lessons, summer camps and race programs. The Wayzata Community Sailing Center provides access to Lake Minnetonka for all members of the community via its fleet of dinghy boats: Pram’s, Opti’s, 420s, lasers and through its keelboat programs in J22s.
In addition to the sailboat demonstration, the open house will include:
• Overview to all the sailing programs offered for youth (5 to 18 years) and adult sailing lessons
• Free sailboat rides
• Free BBQ
• Free face painting
• A number of vendors selling new equipment and boats
• A bring and buy sale of gently used equipment, with proceeds assisting the operational budget of the Sailing Center
Tony Peet, vice president of the center, said “Many people have asked about our fleet of sail boats and the improvement work taking place at the property. We have a wonderful asset here for our community and this is a great chance for everyone to come see this resource thats available to everyone.”
The Wayzata Community Sailing Center is located on Lake Minnetonka at 456 Arlington Circle in Wayzata. Ample off-road parking is available. http://www.wayzatasailing.org
