Wayzata Fire Department To Hold Annual Second Call Meeting May 18, 2009

The Wayzata Fire Department is looking for residents to join Second Call, an organization that helps raise money for extra equipment and the relief association fund. A short meeting, followed by dinner, will be held at 6:45 p.m. Monday, May 18 at the Fire Station.

The meeting will let members view fire equipment, tour the station and socialize with fire fighters. There are four memberships available for community members who wish to support the department, according to Fire Chief Kevin Klapprich. A year-long individual membership is $25, a year-long business membership is $50 and a year-long family membership is $100. A life time membership is also available for a donation of $1000.

In the past, money from Second Call has provided equipment for the fire boat and new uniforms, according to Klapprich. Klapprich jokingly said there is only one rule for Second Call members: “Don’t show up to any fire calls.” If you can’t attend the meeting, but want to support the Wayzata Fire Department, call 952-404-5337 for more information on becoming a member.
