Michael Harries, a senior at Wayzata High School, was awarded the 2009 TwinWest Chamber of Commerce Foundation Legacy Scholarship on April 22.
Harries was selected from applicants in the school districts of Hopkins, Minnetonka, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, Providence Academy, Benilde-St. Margaret’s and Wayzata. Rita Kearns, with Citizens Independent Bank and chair of the scholarship committee, said, “Harries exemplifies the best of the best of applicants this year. He excels in academics, is a great steward of community outreach, is an active leader in school and on the sports field and he exhibits personal attributes and skills that make him a great leader now and into the future.” The scholarship amount is $5,000.
The Award presentation was staged as a “surprise”… Harries was pulled out of class by Wayzata High School Principal Mike Trewick.
