WAYZATA PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Federal stimulus funding brings some relief to district’s budget

From Wayzata Public Schools:

The federal stimulus bill that was approved by the U.S. Congress and signed by President Obama in mid-February included funding for K-12 school districts. Most Minnesota school districts will receive additional funding through the existing special education formula, and if eligible, additional funding for the federal Title I program.

While Wayzata Public Schools will not receive any increase in Title I funding, the district will receive an additional $1 million in special education funding for the 2009-2010 school year and another $1.3 million for the 2010-2011 school year. Details on any restrictions on the use of these funds still have not been clarified, but at least a portion of these funds will be available to help in balancing the 2009-2010 general fund budget.
