WAYZATA HIGH SCHOOL: Trojans take second place at State regional Science Bowl competition

FROM WAYZATA HIGH SCHOOL:

The Wayzata High School Science Bowl team took second place January 21 at the Minnesota Academy of Science’s 15th annual State Regional Science Bowl. The WHS team competed against 26 other teams from around the state. For earning second place, the team won $750 for the WHS Science Department. Students on the team include Rohit Agrawal, Gaurav Singh, Xun Liu, Danesh Bankwala and Terry Lee. The team is coached by Karen Hibbs.

The competition is a fast-paced question and answer format similar to the television show “Jeopardy.” The students were quizzed on science disciplines including biology, chemistry, earth science, physics and astronomy, as well as math. Most questions are so challenging that even educated scientists would have trouble finding the answer.
