WAYZATA PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Oakwood Elementary celebrates 50th anniversary

Oakwood Elementary School celebrated its 50th anniversary on November 16 with an open house that included tours of the building, memorabilia from the past five decades and presentations by past and current district officials and alumni.

Dennis Grasmick, the current Oakwood Elementary principal, said it was exactly 50 years ago on Monday, November 17, when the school officially opened to students. Because of construction delays, the building was unable to open at the beginning of the school year so students attended school in temporary classrooms around the city.
