Tom Petters denied bail

The Star Tribune is reporting that our favorite Wayzata resident Tom Petters was denied bail yesterday as his attorney failed to convince Chief U.S. District Judge Michael Davis that Petters wouldn’t flee.

The ruling was based in part on a recorded phone call in which Petters discussed with codefendant Robert White, in which he details options for getting a fake driver’s license, following the pattern of another white collar criminal Marc Rich who fled to Switzerland in the early 1980’s, and suggested an escape from the country on a boat.
