The Bushaway Neighborhood is gearing up for the Sesquicentennial Celebration of Bushaway Road, scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2008, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at Wayzata City Hall‘s Community Room.
Expressing concern over Hennepin County’s plans to rebuild the 150-year-old County Road, the Bushaway Neighborhood has delved into the history of Bushaway Road.
The community’s website, featuring a recent addition of a Youtube video titled “Bushaway Roundtrip,” showcases their efforts to preserve the historical significance of the road.
The celebration’s agenda includes:
- 4:00 pm: Photographic exhibition with music by Courtney Yasmineh
- 4:30 pm: Panel discussion featuring historians and early Bushaway residents
- 5:15 pm: Cake cutting ceremony by City Councilwoman Suzanne Bangert (tentative)
The History & Early Bushaway Residents Panel, moderated by Kristen Eide-Tollefson, comprises distinguished individuals:

- 1918 photographs of Bushaway Road and Brooks estate

- Slide show of Bushaway Past & Present, showcasing 15 houses over 50 years old
- Photographs of all 34 Bushaway houses
- Professional photographs of woods in autumn and other picturesque views
- Loon’s view of all Bushaway lakeshore homes (photographic display)
- Original 1858 Survey Map & other maps of Bushaway Road
Documents detailing Bushaway’s history will also be available during the celebration.
The event aims to honor the road’s rich heritage and foster awareness about its historical significance.
