WJBF in Washington Georgia is reporting that two Wayzata High School students, John Miller and Dane Rocksted have recently been charged with animal cruelty.
According to the article, they “shot the goose with a paint ball gun, put a net around the bird, and kept it in a kennel.” Additionally “they duct taped the goose and brought it to school.” Both Miller and Rocksted are 18 and will be tried as adults; as a result they could face fines of $1,000 each and or 90 days in jail.
What is going on at Wayzata High School and in Wayzata? This is the latest in a string of recent incidents that shock the average person in our community. What poses a couple of young men to decide that the best thing to do with their time is to torture a bird? Is it lack of self esteem, need for attention, or just very little brain activity? To me it seems like all three. Here is hoping that these delinquents get a strong message from our judicial system so as to prevent further torture of animals in our community.
