According to Police Cheif Mike Risvold an armed robbery occurred on Sunday March 30th at 8:45 PM at the Blockbuster Video in Wayzata, located at 1101 Wayzata Boulevard. Risvold indicated that this was the first armed robbery in Wayzata in more than four years.
According to the report, the suspect appeared in the store approximately 20-30 minutes prior to the robbery and asked for an employment application for his fiancé. During the robbery itself, the suspect displayed a black semi-automatic handgun. He was described as follows: Black Male (light skinned) 25-30 Years Old, 6’0″, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, a knit hat, and blue jeans.
Police indicate other businesses should be on the lookout for this type of scenario–a person matching the description of the robbery asking for an employment application. Anyone with information is encourage to contact the Wayzata Police Department immediately by dialing 911.
