
Wayzata vs Minnetonka Football 2024:
This Friday, September 6th, 2024, the #10 ranked Wayzata Trojans will face the #8 ranked Minnetonka Skippers in the annual Battle for the Bay Bell, a fierce rivalry steeped in tradition.
The game will be held at Einer Anderson Stadium in Minnetonka; the traveling trophy began through the collaborative efforts of the Wayzata Athletic Boosters and the Minnetonka Touchdown Club.
Adding to the excitement, the game occurs on the eve of James J. Hill Days, the annual festival on Wayzata Bay, creating an electric atmosphere for this highly anticipated matchup.
The Skippers won the Battle for the Bay Bell in 2023 by a score of 22-21 at Wayzata Stadium.
Minnetonka, ranked #8 in the state, comes into the game following a decisive 34-10 win over White Bear Lake last Thursday. Junior quarterback Caleb Francois led the charge with three rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown, showing his versatility and leadership on the field.
Wayzata, now ranked #10, is fresh off a thrilling 17-14 victory over Lakeville South last Friday. The Trojans’ scoring plays included a first-quarter 13-yard touchdown pass from Oscar Shoap to Sam Booh and a 29-yard touchdown run by Kyle Boutwell.
With both teams riding high, this year’s Battle for the Bay Bell promises to be an intense contest as fans from both sides gather to celebrate the storied rivalry between Wayzata Football and Minnetonka Football. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
