Fueling Success for High School Athletics

The Wayzata Athletic Boosters (WAB), an entirely volunteer-driven organization, is on a mission to sustain and promote the active engagement of Wayzata High School youth in top-notch athletics. With a commitment to fostering a positive and safe experience for every student athlete, WAB plays a crucial role in providing supplemental funding for sports and activities at Wayzata High School.

The support extended by family and business members of the Wayzata community is instrumental in helping WAB fund essential elements such as equipment, uniforms, and coaching staff. By channeling their collective efforts, WAB ensures that each participant receives the necessary resources for a rewarding athletic journey.

WAB Booster Activities:

WAB orchestrates various activities and events to raise funds for programs and cultivate community pride. Recent endeavors include family and business memberships, 3 Winners card sales, community dinners and grill-outs, concession stand sales, MYAS basketball tournaments, scholarships for students, and the publication of seasonal sports programs and banners. WAB’s planning is dynamic, responding to changing needs, member acceptance, and other influencing factors.

Fundraising Benefits:

WAB’s financial support to Wayzata High School extends through both individual team and general fund donations. A distinctive feature of WAB’s approach is the collaborative effort of all teams during fundraising, eliminating competition among teams for community support. Teams share a portion of the raised funds based on their participation, with the remaining funds allocated to the WHS Athletic Department or to support broader fundraising and community events.

Individual team fundraising is directed towards offsetting specific sport-related costs, including tournament fees, sound and video equipment, transportation, team clothing, awards, and specialized gear. The general funds, under the discretion of the WHS Athletic Director, contribute to purchases benefiting the school and community, such as weight-training equipment, scoreboards, facility improvements, and new uniforms. In recent years, WAB has expanded its contributions to include the production of sports programs and school banners.

The Wayzata Athletic Boosters stand as a cornerstone of support for high school athletics, emphasizing collaboration, community engagement, and the holistic development of student athletes.
