American Legion Post 118

A Hub for Veterans and Neighbors Alike

The Wayzata American Legion Post 118, located just off Lake Street in the heart of downtown Wayzata, has long been a cornerstone of our community. Established in 1920, this historic institution serves not only as a gathering place for veterans but also as a hub for local events, family dinners, and charitable activities that benefit the entire community.

With its strong ties to the service members who have defended our nation, the Wayzata American Legion is committed to honoring veterans from all branches of the military. Regular ceremonies, especially around Memorial Day and Veterans Day, are deeply rooted in the post’s calendar, bringing together community members to reflect on and honor the sacrifices of our servicemen and women.

But the Legion is far from a quiet hall of remembrance—it’s also a lively community gathering spot. Whether it’s Friday night bingo, meat raffles, or live music events, locals can often be found enjoying themselves at the Legion’s social activities. Its bar and restaurant, with affordable food and drinks, are open to the public and offer a relaxed atmosphere for visitors of all ages.

Over the years, Post 118 has taken part in supporting a variety of local causes, from sponsoring youth baseball teams to hosting fundraising events for veterans’ healthcare, scholarships, and Wayzata-area nonprofits. In recent years, the Legion has even expanded its reach through partnerships with other organizations, ensuring that it remains a vital part of Wayzata’s future.

For visitors and longtime residents alike, the Wayzata American Legion stands as a reminder of both the past and the present—a place where the community can gather to remember, to celebrate, and to support one another. Whether you’re stopping in for a bite to eat or attending one of their special events, the Legion welcomes everyone with open arms, keeping the spirit of Wayzata strong.
