After 13 years of leadership marked by growth, collaboration, and community pride, Wayzata West Metro Chamber of Commerce President Becky Pierson has announced plans to retire in early 2026.

In a message to members, Pierson reflected on her tenure with gratitude and emotion, writing that she “truly loves what she does, feels blessed to work alongside such amazing people, and is proud to serve this wonderful community.”

Pierson, who has led the Chamber since 2013, said she believes the timing is right for new leadership to guide the organization into its next chapter. “The Chamber stands on a strong foundation,” she wrote, “and thanks to our talented staff, dedicated volunteers, and engaged members, it remains vibrant and well-positioned for continued success.”

Though stepping away from day-to-day duties, Pierson noted she plans to remain active as a volunteer and supporter. “The Chamber will always hold a special place in my heart — I am simply looking forward to a little less of it in my head,” she joked warmly.

Under Pierson’s leadership, the Chamber strengthened its role as both a business advocate and community convener. From major events such as James J. Hill Days to local initiatives supporting small business vitality, the organization has helped define Wayzata’s civic and economic identity.

Chamber Board Chair Adam Thompson praised Pierson’s impact, calling her tenure “extraordinary.” “Her impact on this community, the members, and the businesses has been remarkable,” Thompson said in a statement to members. “We have some enormous shoes to fill, and we are hopeful that the next leader of this Chamber comes from within this Chamber.”

The Board has opened the search for Pierson’s successor and is encouraging interested candidates and member referrals to review the official job posting, which outlines the role and desired qualifications for the next President and Executive Director.

As Wayzata looks ahead, Pierson’s legacy of optimism, professionalism, and neighborly spirit will remain woven into the Chamber’s fabric — a reflection of a leader who helped the lakeside community thrive through times of both challenge and celebration.
