“The Wayzata boys lacrosse team stayed unbeaten this season with a dominant 15-3 win over Hopkins-Park Tuesday. The Trojans built a 5-0 lead after one quarter and were up 11-0 at halftime. “The Wayzata boys lacrosse team earned a 13-2 win over Champlin Park to start the season. The Trojans were led in scoring by Cullen Britz, who netted two goals and three assists. Ryder Alstead and Bennett Brown both scored hat tricks for Wayzata. The Rebels’ two goals were scored by Zarek Khokhar and Ethan Sevald. Champlin Park will look to bounce back next Monday at Anoka. “The Wayzata girls lacrosse fell at home to Eden Prairie by a score of 17-10. The Eagles came out of the gates hot, scoring the first four goals of the game. Shyla Sanders helped bring the Trojans back, scoring or assisting on Wayzata’s first four goals of the game. Sanders already had a hat trick early in the second quarter and ended up with four goals. “The Wayzata boys lacrosse team lost for the first time this season, falling to rival Minnetonka 12-9 Tuesday. The Skippers built a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and never led by fewer than three goals the rest of the night. Liam Cassidy scored four goals to lead Minnetonka (4-3) to their eighth straight win over Wayzata. The teams played in a steady and sometimes hard rain throughout the first half, although no severe weather passed through Plymouth. The 10th-ranked Trojans (4-1) will try to bounce back with a win in their next Lake Conference game Thursday against second-ranked Edina.”

Wayzata 7/8 Blue Lacrosse team won the Woodbury Invitational. Submitted photo. Wayzata 7/8 Blue handily defeated Rosemount 6-0 in the 2011 Woodbury Black and Blue Youth Lacrosse Invitational, en route to their second tournament championship this season. The Trojans did not lose any games, going 5-0 for the tournament. The tournament consisted of 10 teams from Minnesota and Wisconsin in a round robin style tourney with the top two teams in each pool playing for 1st or 3rd place against the other pool. On Saturday they beat both Woodbury (7-3) and Hudson (13-3). On Sunday they played a tough Stillwater team (6-3) and Eden Prairie (9-0), giving them 1st place in their pool and a trip to the championship game that evening.
