It was a tough night full of heartbreaking losses for three different Wazyata High School athletic teams as the softball, boy’s lacrosse and girl’s lacrosse teams all saw seasons come to an end on Tuesday.
The girl’s lacrosse team was upset by third seeded Robbinsdale Armstrong by a score of 10-9 in the semifinals of section six. The second seeded Trojans had defeated the Falcons twice during the regular season.
The boy’s lacrosse team made a valiant attempt to upset Eden Prairie in its semifinal match, but came up just short by a score of 11-10.
The softball team was forced to win two games on Tuesday to stay alive in its section tournament. The Trojans defeated Edina 3-2 in the first game, but fell 7-6 in eight innings to the top seeded Richfield Spartans in the second game.
The Wayzata baseball team is still alive in its section tournament, which will play out on Thursday, May 28, and Friday, May 29. The second seeded Trojans will face the sixth seeded Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville. The other semifinal will feature top seeded Hopkins and fifth seeded Edina.

Both the Wayzata boy’s and girl’s lacrosse teams have advanced to the section semifinals after quarterfinal victories on Thursday night.
The boy’s team defeated Chaska 20-7 and will now face Eden Prairie at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School. The Trojans beat the Eagles 10-9 during the regular season back on April 28.
The girl’s team defeated Orono 17-10 on Thursday and will now face Robbinsdale Armstrong at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Robbinsdale Cooper High School. The Trojans defeated the Falcons twice during the regular season—11-6 on April 11 and 12-10 on April 30.

The Wayzata boy’s and girl’s lacrosse teams are ready to make some noise in its’ respective section tournaments with play beginning this week.
The Wayzata girl’s team finished the regular season with a record of 11-1 and received the No. 2 seed in its section. The team will host the winner of the first-round game between seventh seeded Orono and 10th seeded Robbinsdale Cooper at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 21.
Eden Prairie received the No. 1 seed in the section. Robbinsdale Armstrong is the No. 3 seed and Chaska is the No. 4 seed.
The Wayzata boy’s team finished the regular season with a record of 7-5 and received the No. 3 seed in its section. The team will host the winner of the first-round game between No. 6 seed Chaska and No. 11 seed Hopkins at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 21.
Minnetonka received the No. 1 seed in the section. Eden Prairie is the No. 2 seed and Osseo is the No. 4 seed.

Lead by a balanced scoring attack and solid goal tending, the Wayzata Girls Lacrosse team defeated Minnetonka 16-6 on Tuesday night. Their record is now 10-1 and have 2 regular season games left next week against Edina and Hopkins.

Wayzata beat arch rival Armstrong 12-10 on Thursday to improve to 5-0 in the Classic Lake and 8-1 overall. The team is currently ranked #3 by LaxPower behind Eden Prairie and The Blake School. They play Maple Grove on Saturday and travel to Minnetonka on Tuesday.

The Wayzata Girls Lacrosse Team improved their record to 5-1 with a thrilling 9-8 victory over a strong Edina Hornet team on Monday night. Wayzata’s only loss this season came to the hands of defending state champion The Blake School last Saturday… score was 13-7.

The Wayzata Girl’s Lacrosse team has been impressive in two matches this season. After opening the season with a 14-0 victory over Anoka on Thursday, April 9, the Trojans beat Armstrong 11-6 on Saturday, April 11. Hiliary Duda lead the way with 6 goals and Whitney Bergstresser recorded her first shut-out in the victory of Anoka.
Also, 4 seniors have been named captains: Kate Loberg-Sonderup, Katie Lynch, Micaela Olson, and Lauren Kramer.
