Wayzata’s Dom Barber Continues NFL Legacy, Joins Houston Texans

Keeping the Barber legacy strong in Wayzata, Dom Barber, son of former NFL running back Marion Barber Jr., secures a spot with the Houston Texans after being drafted in the sixth round. This adds another chapter to the Barber family’s NFL journey, with Dom’s brother, Marion Barber III, making his mark with the Dallas Cowboys. Interestingly, the two teams are slated to face each other in week 3 of the upcoming NFL season, setting the stage for a Barber family showdown on the field.

Dom Barber shared the story of his draft day experience, revealing that he had initially given up on the draft proceedings. However, fate had other plans, and while engrossed in watching “Braveheart,” cheers erupted from his family upstairs, signaling the realization of his NFL dream. Barber expresses his excitement about the opportunity, and the Wayzata community extends heartfelt wishes for a successful and rewarding football career.
Joey Miller headed to Gopher Hockey Program

The fish wrap factory west side of the river is reporting that Joey Miller–Wayzata Football and Hockey standout–has verbally committed to the University of Minnesota Men’s Hockey program for 2008-2009.

Miller had a dynamic impact on both the hockey and the football team during his tenure at Wayzata High School. He was electric during the 2006 Prep Bowl in which Wayzata won the Minnesota State Football Championship over Cretin. He was also very good player for the Trojans Ice Hockey team while he was at WHS.

James Laurinaitis is one of the Best Football Players to Come Out of Wayzata

In case you don’t watch football, James Laurinaitis is a name you should know if you are a Wayzatian. Laurinaitis is a recent graduate of Wayzata High School, and the best linebacker in the nation at the college level. He is currently preparing for his Senior year at Ohio State and has won accolades such as: the Butkus Award in 2007, the Nagurski Award in 2006. He is considered one of the top NFL Draft prospects, but has decided to return to Ohio State for one more year.

James is the son of Joe Laurinaitis, the professional wrestler known as “Animal”, part of a the tag team “The Road Warriors.” Watch for James and Ohio State to get another shot at the National Championship this year, and then get drafted by an NFL team. Should be interesting what kind of success he and his teammates can achieve.
