As the 50th Annual James J. Hill Days approaches, organizers have kicked off a fundraising campaign to ensure a spectacular fireworks display over Wayzata Bay.
With a goal of raising $20,000, the “50 for the 50th” campaign encourages community members to contribute $50 or more to help make this year’s celebration unforgettable.
The tradition, which began in 1974, has become a cornerstone of the Wayzata community, attracting large crowds each year.
This year’s celebration, scheduled for Sept. 6-8, promises to be especially memorable, given that there were no fireworks over the bay for the Fourth of July.
Organizers anticipate heightened excitement and patriotism for the festival’s golden anniversary.
The fireworks budget is set at $15,000, but organizers hope to surpass that amount to create an even more spectacular show.
Donations are tax-deductible, and the first 100 donors who give $50 or more will receive a complimentary beverage at the James J. Hill Days Beer + Wine Tents.
“Wayzata has been terrific supporters of this tradition and we are hoping you can step up this year to get us started in grand fashion. If we can reach $20,000, we will be able to make the show really spectacular. As always your donation is tax deductible!,” stated Peter Hitch, a member of the James J. HIll Days Steering Committee.
Contributions can be made through the Wayzata Community Foundation (WCF), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting local community activities. For more information on how to donate, visit this website.
