It was a tough night full of heartbreaking losses for three different Wazyata High School athletic teams as the softball, boy’s lacrosse and girl’s lacrosse teams all saw seasons come to an end on Tuesday.
The girl’s lacrosse team was upset by third seeded Robbinsdale Armstrong by a score of 10-9 in the semifinals of section six. The second seeded Trojans had defeated the Falcons twice during the regular season.
The boy’s lacrosse team made a valiant attempt to upset Eden Prairie in its semifinal match, but came up just short by a score of 11-10.
The softball team was forced to win two games on Tuesday to stay alive in its section tournament. The Trojans defeated Edina 3-2 in the first game, but fell 7-6 in eight innings to the top seeded Richfield Spartans in the second game.
The Wayzata baseball team is still alive in its section tournament, which will play out on Thursday, May 28, and Friday, May 29. The second seeded Trojans will face the sixth seeded Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville. The other semifinal will feature top seeded Hopkins and fifth seeded Edina.
