Warm temperatures combined with with a stiff breeze out of the southwest created a spooky fog that rolled over Wayzata Bay Sunday afternoon.

The Ice is Out on Wayzata Bay, and it’s Official: Ice out has been declared on Lake Minnetonka! by the Freshwater Society.
The ice-out date for Lake Minnetonka 2009 was declared at 6:42 p.m. Monday, April 13.
We have a winner in the Wayzata.com and Minnesota’s Lake Minnetonka Ice Out Contest as well, recipient of a 50.00 gift certificate from Sunsets in Wayzata. Two people guessed the same day, but one guessed the time closest. We’ll announce the winner shortly.

Don Knutson of Plymouth, MN was in front of the Wayzata Beach getting ready to go ice sailing today at about 12:00 noon. He said that so far this year he and his friends had been “skunked” in terms of opportunities to go. Even though the ice is pretty rough right now due to the recent warm up and re-freeze, he and a buddy were going to go anyway.Wayzata.com is your ice sailing on Wayzata Bay leader. -

Elisha and I embarked on a leisurely stroll around Wayzata today, capturing the picturesque scene of Wayzata Bay. The idyllic shot showcases the changing colors, a visual testament to the seasonal shift as the boating season gradually draws to a close. It’s that time of year again when fall colors begin to show on the trees, Friday nights are spent under the lights watching football, and the boating season on Lake Minnetonka and Wayzata Bay comes to an end. Elisha and I enjoyed leasing a slip for our Sea Ray on Libbs Lake and boating to Big Island and Maynard’s for burgers and drinks. We had a wonderful time this summer, but pulled our Amberjack out of the Gray’s Bay boat landing last Saturday in the pouring rain. If you still have your boat in the water, enjoy these last couple of days this week and get ready for frost advisories and cool breezes. Chalk up another year on Minnetonka for me, as we have had trouble getting out with all the happenings. Too bad summer doesn’t last 9 months out of the year hear in Wayzata, MN. Before we know it it will be time for the Chilly Open.
