The Meridian Manor is hosting a 50’s fever benefit in remembrance of the 9-11 first responders to benefit the Wayzata Fire Department.
“If we were to have a fire here, we would be so dependent on the Wayzata Fire Department, so we are doing the event to show how much we appreciate the great Fire Department we have here in Wayzata,” Nelson said.
To show how much they really do appreciate the local fire department, all proceeds of the event will be directly donated. “Our goal is to raise enough money to knock the socks off Kevin.” Kevin Klapprich is the Wayzata Fire Department Fire Chief.
In the theme of the 50’s, Meridian Manor has spectacular activities planned. There is a costume contest scheduled, as well as hula hoop spinning contest, bubble gum blowing, a 50’s trivia contest, and a classic car show .
The entertainment for the day includes, Rich and the Resistors, a great local band, and a Elvis impersonator, called Echos of Elvis. “I know the director of the band, which is awesome, and the impersonator, you swear it’s Elvis,” said Nelson.
After all the performances and contests, you can grab a bite to eat at the Doo Wop Diner, which will be serving classic 50’s items, such as, malts, cream soda, burgers, and cherry cokes.
The event will take place on September 24th, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Meridian Manor, 163 W. Wayzata Blvd. Wayzata, MN 55391.
