Your 2010 Wayzata Trojans Volleball team finished the season 2nd in the State after losing in straight sets to Lakeville North on Saturday.

“In eight years as coach Milan Mader’s right-hand man in Lakeville, Doug Bergman has seen occasional fire and brimstone out of the 36-year coaching veteran.

After an attack error by Trojans senior Coral Evans sealed the match — and Mader’s first championship after five previous tries — he buried his face in his hands amid an arm load of hugs.”

Your Wayzata Trojans Volleball team advanced in the Class AAA Minnesota State Volleyball Tournament today.  The Trojans won in 3 straight sets: 25-18 / 25-22 / 25-14.

Wayzata will take on the winner of the Moorehead / Waconia match being played today as well tomorrow at 11:00 am at the Xcel Energy Center.

Hi Wayzata Trojan Fans, Julia Doyle has been name to the first team volleyball in the metro by the Star Tribune. Julia, a junior setter was featured in todays edition of the paper by writer David Brewster, who had this to say:

“At 6-1, her height makes her a threat in the front or back row. She is foremost a setter who always anticipates the attack (742 assists during the regular season), but can also step up and hit with authority when needed, evidenced by her 200-plus kills. Smooth, calm and always in control.”


Toni Okuyemi, a junior MB, made the second team all metro because she is an, “Explosive leaper has excellent timing and sturdy block.“

Wayzata defeated Minneapolis Southwest 3-1 to advance to the State Tournament. The State Tournament takes place at Xcel Energy Center on 11/11, 11/12, & 11/13. This is a seeded tournament with times to be determined.
